Went to Walden Ponds this morning (6/5) and it appears that the
county is raising the water level of Cottonwood Marsh. At one
point I wanted to get from the Walden side to the Sawhill side
and the ditch was full of running water.

There are a few birds that may be nesting at Cottonwood so the
higher water levels could hamper their nests. There were quite
a few Spotted Sandpipers around and 1-2 Red-necked Phalaropes.
My question about the Red-necks is are they on their way to or
from their breeding grounds? Any ideas?
