COBirders,

I drove to the Chico Basin Ranch (fee) hoping for late migrants. I found
two singing Dickcissels in the partially mowed alfalfa field south of
Rose Pond (Pueblo).

After not seeing Mountain Plover since mid-April, there were two today,
one doing both the "wee-wee" call and the "falling leaf" display, the
other loafing in the area near the large prairie dog town where they were
successful breeders last year (El Paso).

I saw a single Chihuahuan Raven by a stick nest on a windmill that had
whitewash on one side of it, but I didn't hear any noises from the nest
or nest area so I am not sure if they are breeding there or not (El
Paso).

Orchard Oriole - pair with nest. I watched the female deliver a green
food item to presumed occupants in a nest near small HQ Pond (Pueblo).

No birds I would call migrants today, little song activity except
Cassin's Sparrows have returned in good numbers in both counties and two
Scaled Quails calling from song posts.

A non-birder intern asked me: "what is the swallow that isn't a barn
swallow" and then she described perfectly the nest of a Cliff Swallow.

This is as green as I have ever seen it there.
