The Ovenbird is singing again today. He is in what looks to be good nesting territory. I first posted the bird on May 27 and he was still singing on the 28th, so I am very hopeful for a nesting pair. I really must take some more time from my chores, park myself out there and observe.
We live nearly 3 miles west of the school on the Old Flowers Road in Stove Prairie. FYI the forest service still has the gate locked that enters the Roosevelt National Forest which is another ½ mile down the road. Don't ask me why....maybe just cuz they can! It is a 4X4 road, but some great birding territory.
