Hello, Birders.

Kei, Hannah, Andrew, and I actually went birding in Broomfield County yesterday
evening, Friday, July 3rd. Habitat was typical for the county: Flatirons Mall.
Just before 8pm, we saw and heard about 15 Common Nighthawks moving west over
the incomprehensibly vast western sector of the mall's parking lot. Could they
have been early migrants?

Those nighthawks, by the way, were a county lifebird for me! #33 since I've
been keeping records on eBird. According to eBird, that makes me the 6th
greatest Broomfield birder of all time. To wit:

01 Eric Zorawowicz 170
02 David Ely 153
03 David Alcock 71
04 Chris Wood 62
05 George Tomasevich 54
06 Ted Floyd 33
07 Tony Leukering 23
08 Cole Wild 21
09 Marcia Skinner 20
10 Norm Lewis 20

For example, you can learn how Loch Kilpatrick is bringing up the rear with a
grand total of 1 species in Broomfield Couty. It is a doozie, however: Sandhill
Crane, back on October 13, 2006.

Less facetiously, the "Top 100" feature of eBird is intriguing to explore:

Have fun! It is addictive.
