Hello, Birders.

After exploring the Rabbit Mountain area (my posting from a moment ago), I
popped in on various other spots in the lowlands of northern and eastern
Boulder County, with a sneak into Weld County, too. Bullock's Orioles
everywhere. And some other stuff. Here's what I came up with:

1. Cemex Toxic Dust Plant, east of Lyons, Boulder County. 2 Cordilleran
Flycatchers, 2 Gray Catbirds, and 4 Bullock's Orioles. (Great-looking habitat
in there.)

2. Pella Crossing, Boulder County. 1 Western Grebe, 2 Wilson's Snipes
(including 1 giving an amazing display), 1 Cordilleran Flycatcher, 1 Say's
Phoebe, 2 Eastern Kingbirds, 2 Western Warbling-Vireos, 4 Cedar Waxwings, 1
Vesper Sparrow, 4 Savannah Sparrows, 1 singing Bobolink, and 6 Bullock's
Orioles.

3. McIntosh Lake, Boulder County. 7 Western Grebes, 2 Clark's Grebes, 3 Great
Egrets, 1 Cedar Waxwing, and 1 Bullock's Oriole.

4. Jim Hamm Nature Study Area, Boulder County. 13 Redheads, 1 Ruddy Duck, 4
Pied-billed Grebes, 2 American Coots, 1 Say's Phoebe, 2 Marsh Wrens, 1 Blue
Grosbeak, and 3 Bullock's Orioles.

5. Union Reservoir, Weld County. ~350 Western Grebes, 1 Osprey, 1 Rufous
Hummingbird, and 1 Bullock's Oriole.

6. Little Gaynor Lake, Boulder County. 3 Cinnamon Teals, 1 Green-winged Teal, 3
American Avocets, and 1 Bullock's Oriole. This site actually has a tiny sliver
of shoreline! Pretty much the only shorebird habitat in all of Boulder County
right now, I would say.

7. Prince Lake No. 2. No shoreline here. In fact the lake was overflowing onto
111th Street. Nonetheless, there were single Greater Yellowlegs and Lesser
Yellowlegs here, working the flooded margins of the lake. Also 3 Cinnamon
Teals, 3 Western Grebes, and 1 Great Egret.

8. Greenlee Preserve. The female hummingbird is continuing at the honeysuckles
along South Fork Drive. I'm not so sure, anymore, that it's a Black-chinned.
She has characters of Ruby-throated. However, I have not been able to get a
good look at the bird perched. Stay tuned...
