I spent some time today studying the hummingbirds around my yard, of which
there are many! It appears they all survived last night's torrential rains &
hail in fine shape (unlike some of my vegetable garden). It's hard to know how
many there are of the various species, but there are at least as many as
reported below, and probably more. I'm attempting to get various photos of
each, with mixed success so far.....(p) indicates at least decent photos
obtained. They're frequenting my 4 feeders, but are also attending many
different flower species around the yard as well.

Broad-tailed >> 3 females/juveniles(p) & 3 adult males(p) ....... found 2
separate nests earlier in the summer
Rufous >> 1 female/juvenile & 2 adult males(p) ....... males being very
aggressive & causing lots of trouble for the others
Calliope >> 1 female/juvenile(p) & 1 adult male(p) ....... tiny, quiet &
unassuming
Black-chinned >> 1 adult male ....... seen only briefly, and never relocated
after being chased off by another hummer

What an exciting time of the season for hummers!!!
