Yesterday while doing my work thing, I heard a Prothonotary Warbler singing just south of where I had the Eastern Meadowlarks a couple years ago, west of Ponch Springs, off US Hwy 50, on to CR 210 and along Cochetopa Creek in the Friend Ranch Golf Development. The site is off the county road approx. 100yds, Not sure if it can be heard from the road or not. Might be able to get permission at the Friend Ranch office just off Hwy 50 at CR210.
Knowing not what the song was and not seeing the bird. I discussed the song with Brandon, with my description of the song, Brandon led me to ProWa. I went to the web and found a ,wav with the exact song. I haven't heard one in a year or so, so I forgot what they sound like. Can't think of any other species that sounds similar. Let me know if you have other thoughts.
