I had a quite bright red hummer at the feeder today (about time: last year had had rufous and calliope in lg numbers by this time; this year there is almost no traffic). But the reason I actually noticed it is that it was whistling loudly, like a broad-tailed. What the heck? I don't suppose these ever inter-breed?
