Early this morning (not early enough to avoid swarms of mosquitos that
weren't very deterred by the Deet I had put on) checked the sewer district
tank area on the Canon City Riverwalk where the pair of Eastern Phoebes had
been carrying food to an apparent nest. There were no Eastern Phoebes
there, or nearby, so the young likely fledged.

I have seen a juvenile Black Phoebe at Pathfinder Park just west of Florence
the past two evenings. Night before last I watched it, and several other
birds including a lone Cedar Waxwing, sallying after insects in a light but
steady rain after a severe storm had passed. I didn't see this bird when I
stopped by there tonight but I only did a cursory check. This, and possibly
a second juvenile Black Phoebe, have been at this location since early
July.

I saw a probable hybrid Eastern-Black Phoebe yesterday that has been at a
location on private property for a month. This bird emits "seep" calls just
like a Black Phoebe and looks intermediate between the two species.
