I was at that game and actually had my binoculars with me and was
watching that smaller bird from my seat (club level, right field
side). I believe the smaller bird was a grackle and was sitting in
between right and center for about a good 10 minutes (like some sort
of utility outfielder). Then, just as I pulled the binoculars away I
see this larger bird swoop down and yes, there was a collective gasp
from the crowd as the grackle escaped at the last second. Now here is
where I need help identifying the hawk since I'm still a birding
neophyte. It had a very dark head and neck. I know I've seen it before
but I just can't seem to identify it.
