That extraordinary nest has existed for quite a long time. The original nest the birds builit on a real power pole; the power company put up a substitute pole that they have used now for (I'm guessing) at least a decade.
When we looked at it last week during our cowbird outings, it had three nestlings (if we can call birds that big 'nestlings').
