Can't believe it, but I have a Eurasian Collared-Dove building a nest
right now at my house (7,500 ft - Ponderosa). I know in warmer climes
they nest about year-round, but here where it could always snow in a
month. No wonder they are increasing at an unbelievable rate.
Hopefully they do not negatively impact too many native birds in the
long run. It is a wait and see.

Still have a lot of humingbirds - somewhere around 50 I estimate. It
is down considerably from a week ago when the hummingbird wars were at
there peak, going through at least a gallon of sugar water a day with
3 species consistent for almost a month. Mostly Broad-taileds (males,
females, juveniles) with a spackling of juvenile/female Rufous's
left. Have not seen a Calliope in 2 days. Had a female Black-chinned
appear once 6 days ago - my first. Came in, drank for 3 minutes or
so, flew up about 25 yards and headed north to whereabouts unknown.
It has never come back again that I am aware of.

Have a great week!
