The past few evenings there have been many high-flying Common Nighthawks
going up and down the North Fork of the Gunnison above my pasture. It is
great to see as many as 30 at time traveling in a group. This morning and
afternoon I have heard Purple Martins calling above nearly every time I go
outside. I saw seven together at one point. Some species that don't nest
here also showed up in the yard today: White-crowned Sparrow, Chipping
Sparrow, Western Tanager, and MacGillivray's Warbler. Heard a Baird's
Sandpiper calling as it flew over today too (new yardbird!).
