Hi folks, I had saved a CoBirds post from a year or two ago about finding Gunnison Sage-Grouse in summer but I can't seem to find it. I am trying to help an Alabama birder out who is on her way to see the Booby in NM and then Black Swift in Ouray. She has asked me about Ptarmigan, Dusky, Gunnison, and Sharp-tailed Grouse as well. I have done some perusing of the County Birding website but I'm not having much luck and hoped someone could help out. While we are at it Virginia's Warbler, Pine Grosbeak, and Sabine's Gull are also on her list. Since she won't be arriving in CO until Wednesday afternoon from NM and has to be in Ouray on Friday, I thought about sending her straight to Timnath (if the Sabine's is still around), then to Ouray by way of 285 and 50 to Gunnison after which her schedule can be dictated by the birds.
Are there somewhat reliable spots near Craig to see sharp-taileds in summer? She could then loop back and try Loveland, then Guanella, then Mt Evans for Ptarmigan and hope a PIGR might be around too. Any advice would be most appreciated.
