Finally got to see my first CO Alder Flycatcher 9-13-09 near the jct of
Purgatoire Way & Colorado Blvd., Colorado City, SW Pueblo County. After
rejecting over many years lots of probables as possible Willows, it was nice to
see an Alder displaying the extreme end of the field marks to separate it from
Willows. This cooperative Alder was in a damp weedy depression in a small
cottonwood grove on the south side of Purgatoire just east of its junction with
Colorado Blvd. It could not be relocated this morning after 1+ hour search.

Other area birds of interest:

1 Black Phoebe 9-14-09 north side of Purgatoire at small Pond near Colo Blvd.

1 Cassin's Vireo 9-12-09 my yard(NW corner of Birch & Norton)about 1 mile south
of Rye.

1 Townsend's Warbler 9-12-09 my yard(birder's welcome).

1 N. Waterthrush 9-12-09 Greenhorn Creek .25 miles upstream from Colo City
Treatment Plant.
