Hi All,

I just returned from two days in Hinsdale and Mineral Counties which are very
under birded. While I struck out on my target of shorebirds, I did have a few
interesting sightings. There was a Clay-colored Sparrow [county record?] in
Mineral near the Hinsdale County line just before where SR 149 enters Hinsdale.
There were also 6 Great Blue Herons at the lake nearby which is a high count
for Mineral. Brown Lakes in Hinsdale produced the surprise of the trip -
Eastern Kingbird [county record?] - and three adult Black-crowned Night-Herons,
also unusual. A Swainson's Hawk perched next to Cr 523 for a nice sighting in
Mineral County were they are uncommon.
