Boulder County:
--A Least Tern was reported by Schmoker at Six Mile Reservoir in Boulder on
September 23 and seen again on September 24 by Arnesen.
El Paso/Pueblo Counties:
--A Black-and-white Warbler was banded by Brown at Chico Basin Ranch on
September 25.
--A hatch year PAINTED BUNTING was banded by Brown at Chico Basin Ranch on
September 27.
Larimer County:
--A juv HUDSONIAN GODWIT was reported by Komar at Timnath Reservoir on
September 24 and seen again by Sanders on September 26.
--An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Wild at Timnath Reservoir
on September 25.
Mesa County:
--2 Green Herons were reported by Arnold at 23 1/4 Road Pond on September 25.
Montezuma County:
--At Totten Reservoir, Beatty report a juv Stilt Sandpiper and juv Red-necked
Phalarope on September 21.
Park County:
--2 juv Sabine's Gulls were reported by Semo at Antero Reservoir on September
21.
Pueblo County:
--A BLUE-HEADED VIREO was reported by Percival below Pueblo Reservoir near the
Fish Hatchery Ponds on September 25.
--A possible CAVE SWALLOW was reported by Percival at the Snakeskin Picnic Area
of Pueblo Reservoir on September 25. If confirmed this would be the first
state record of CAVE SWALLOW.
Sedgwick County:
--A Black-throated Blue Warbler was reported by Kaempfer in Ovid on September
26.
Washington County:
--At Prewitt, Kaempfer reported an Eastern Phoebe and young brown LAUGHING GULL
on September 26. On September 27, Roller found 2 LAUGHING GULLS at Prewitt.
The monthly meeting of DFO will be on Monday, September 28 at the planetarium
of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science at 7:30 pm. Park on the north side
and enter the "Member's Entrance". US Fish and Wildlife Personnel will give a
talk on "An Urban Gem: Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge."
The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, October 3 will be to Cherry Creek State Park
led by Mary Keithler (303-771-1421). Meet at the Marina for a half day trip.
Lunch optional. Bring scopes. State Parks Pass required.
The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, October 4 will be to Chatfield State Park led by
Ed Holub (303-979-2194). Meet at 0800 at the Swim Beach. Lunch Optional. You
may want to stay longer if Ed has other "hot Spots" in mind. State Parks pass
required.
