COBirders,

This A.M. I found a Varied Thrush (1st Ranch record, #323) in the yard of
the ranch house next to Chico Basin Ranch Headquarters (fee area). In
the early afternoon, Brandon Percival and I found it again just south of
the little headquarters pond, this time midstory. Brandon was able to
obtain photographs of the bird.

Other birds I saw or heard are:

El Paso County

Curve-billed Thrasher - 2 - resident
Broad-winged Hawk - immature
Great Horned Owl vs. Fox Squirrel - squirrel approached to within 3 feet
of the owl, the owl hissed, and the squirrel retreated
Evening Grosbeaks ~ 5 (rare on ranch)

Pueblo County

VARIED THRUSH - 1
Marsh Wren - 3
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 3
