COBirders, A quick stop at Big Johnson reservoir this evening, 10/19/09, produced mostly the same thing that has been there for a few weeks now. I did not see the Common Loon but it easily could still be there. The one bird that was new and noteworthy was a GREAT EGRET. This seems a little on the late side for the front range but maybe not?? The gull numbers were down with only about 50 birds comprised of Ring-billed, California and Herring (1). There were about 10 Herring there just 2 days ago. There were many grebes and a number of Hooded Mergansers (at least 8).
