In this morning's Denver Post (10/26, p. 13A), there's a story
headlined "Firestone moves closer to development of disputed
parcel." The sub-headline says "The three annexations will skirt
Longmont claims near LifeBridge church's land."

First paragraph: "City planners say they have figured a way to
develop the huge Union parcel in southwest Weld County owned by
LifeBridge Christian Church, while circumventing roadblocks erected
by neighboring Longmont." The largest of the three parcels proposed
for annexation to Firestone "is the 170.5-acre Adams Farm property
west of St. Vrain State Park." Would that possibly include the land
(and trees) where the large rookery is located? I'm not trying to
start rumors; I'm hoping someone who knows that part of Longmont and
Weld County has a better idea of whether this proposal might impact
the rookery. The article doesn't say anything about the future of
the farm property -- whether or not it would stay a farm. And I
don't know whether the rookery is on state park land or private land.

I just became aware of that large rookery during 2009 -- long may it
thrive!

Thank you for any information -- Mary Leonard, Boulder
