Hi Everyone-- Today 11/1 I drove around Union Reservoir. Afternoon heat shimmer made viewing the center of the lake difficult, but I finally found the Red-throated Loon that others have written about. I didn't see a Common Loon either, but it could easily hide in the haze. At the east end of the city park (visible from WCR 26), a Clark's Grebe was associating with Westerns, and was close enough to shore so that the eye was clearly visible in the white. Near the Union Yacht Club, a single Bonaparte's Gull was flying around.
