Early December 2009 Field Trips
Saturday, December 5 Deer Creek Canyon
Leader: Lynn Willcockson, (303) 757-7000. Meet Lynn at 0800 at the
entrance to the Arboretum on Deer Creek Canyon Rd. about a quarter-mile west of
Wadsworth Blvd. We'll visit the Arboretum and the Park looking for the hardy
birds of winter; Canyon Wren a likely find. Half-day trip, lunch optional.
Please call Leader to let him know if you plan to attend.
Sunday, December 6 Barr Lake and Roads East
Leaders: Tim Smart, (303) 439-9627 and Meredith Anderson, (303) 280-8576.
Meet leaders at 0830 at the Barr Lake Visitors' Center parking lot. We'll
canvass the lake area for wintering waterfowl and riparian birds, and then
drive the county roads east for raptors. Bring lunch, a scope, and two-way
radios if you have them. Trip should wrap up by 2 p.m. State Parks Pass
or fee required. Please notify Meredith if you plan to participate.
