Dear Cobirders,
Just after Thanksgiving, I had the good fortune to notice a
Black-capped Chickadee enter what appeared to be a night-time roost
right around sunset. This roost was close enough to my house that I
decided to keep an eye on it to see if there was a pattern to the birds
nightly return. As it roosts alone in this location, it is no surprise
that the bird doesn't appear on nights when the temperature at sunset is
low (<28F in this case). To keep this time series going, I'm asking a
favor from you Cobirders; I will be away next week and was wondering if
someone wanted to take up the task of checking the roost around sunset
to see if the bird had arrived. The roost is in Gunbarrel near Twin
Lakes. If you are interested in helping, send me an email off-list.
Thanks,
Walter Szeliga
