The adult Great Black-backed Gull was present on the ice shelf just south of
the Spring Creek Dam this afternoon, along with 1 adult California Gull, 1
first-cycle Thayer's Gull, about 25 Herring Gulls and about 200 Ring-billed
Gulls. I suspect these birds roost communally at night at Carter Lake, so
hopefully they will get counted on the Loveland CBC on Jan 1. Congrats to
Rachel for finding this rarity as well as the flyby Black-headed Gull. I
hope it shows up somewhere soon!
