Just wanted to make sure you super-listers have seen that a Bare-throated Tiger-Heron has been found, identification confirmed, and photographed in far south Texas near Bentsen-RioGrande State Park in Mission, Texas. This is possibly the first US record and I know some of you do travel long distances for uber-rarities (and that these have been posted to Cobirds before). Photos can be seen at http://marybirds.blogspot.com/2009/12/bare-throated-tiger-heron-hidalgo.html
I don't chase much these days but I haven't seen one of these for about 10 years so I will drive the 15 miles from where I am staying here in Texas to look for it in the morning. There is also a Northern Jacana, another big rarity, at Choke Canyon State Park just over a hundred miles north of here.
