Hi all:

I just wanted to request that folks reporting interesting birds to Cobirds (or
any venue, really) should provide, if known, the age and/or sex of the
interesting bird(s). This could greatly assist those chasing such birds to
have the right search image. Should one be looking for an adult Northern
Goshawk -- thus a gray bird -- or a juvenile -- a brown-and-white bird? Is the
winter Blue-winged Teal still in alternate plumage (formerly known as eclipse)
or has it attained some basic plumage -- thus has some of the white crescent on
the face, which could then create a bird that looks very like an immature male
Northern Shoveler? Is the Eastern Towhee a male -- a black bird and thus
similar to a Spotted Towhee -- or a female -- a rich brown bird, thus quite
different from most Spotted Towhees? Is the Lesser Black-backed Gull an adult
-- thus readily distinguished by upperparts color and yellow legs -- or a
juvenile -- thus not-so-readily distinguished -- or something in between?

Thanks,

Tony Leukering
