Hi Cobirders. About a 150 Red-winged Blackbirds Saturday settled in 3
cottonwood trees to the north. When my
son Bob came and shoveled a path to the drum feeder and cleared 6" os
snow off it he put out seed on it.
Down came most of the Red-wings to consume it. They would fly up and
around and land again. Doing this
several times until all the seed was gone. They also came Sunday and
Monday.
The nice thing about
Golden-crown Kinglets is that they do come down out of the high
mountains and that
they often also come down low to feed on small trees and bushes so
you can see them. I have not been
able to hear them for over twenty years if ever up in the mountains.
I have seen them at Endovalley in RMNP.
They are often in winter in Pueblo City park. In spring I found them
at Reynolds Park in the foot hills.
They become a very rare bird in some ones yard.
I always feel like I have found gold when I see them.
