Hi all,
Today (4 January 2010), the Pueblo CBC was held, and 88 species of birds were
found. A huge thanks to the 21 observers who covered the circle very well.
The lakes in the circle were pretty frozen, though all the regular occurring
waterfowl were found, except for Redhead. Birds that are hard to find on this
count that were found this year included: Double-crested Cormorant; Mew Gull;
Thayer's Gull; Say's Phoebe; Western Bluebird; Mountain Bluebird; Northern
Mockingbird; Harris's Sparrow; and Common Grackle. Some things that weren't
seen were Prairie Falcon and Ruby-crowned Kinglet that I saw yesterday, while
scouting. There were no Rough-legged Hawks this year, this species seems to be
very hard to find down this way anymore.
