Folks,

The Snowy Owl was seen by several birders and photographers this afternoon. It
appears to be an adult bird, though I am not certain of sex. To see this bird
from a front range city north of Castle Rock, travel to Castle Rock from I-25
and take the 2nd exit which I believe is Wilcox Street. Turn east then south
on Wilcox to 5th Street. This is Hwy 86. Go east on Hwy 86 to Elbert Road,
just west of the town of Kiowa. Turn south and travel to Hwy 24. This is just
under an hour drive from Castle Rock. The bird is hanging around in the
subdivision of newer horse ranches to the south and east of the intersection of
Hwy 24 and Elbert Road and was visible from Hwy 24. Look on fence posts, wires
and roof tops of the homes there, but from the roads only as this appears to be
mostly private land. I have posted some pictures to the link below and would
be happy to post the photos of others if you send them to me off this list.
