Barb Jones and I were thrilled to see the red-shouldered hawk today. After two hours of walking and talking to several other birders, we were on our way back to the car when we spotted the bird in a tree in the parking lot! This was at the Kodak SWA. We got very good looks at it. As we approached it flushed and flew to the west side of Road 257. We got the scope on it before it flew to another tree and then another. In the end it flew back to the east side of the road, with a kestrel diving at it, before disappearing in the woodlands.
We were able to view it from the back, side, front, and flying -- perfect! It seemed wary and easily flushed. --Sue Kenney
