Hi CObirders,

After a great day at Valmont on Saturday and some non-birding friend
time, I decided to venture up to Simpson Ponds SWA yesterday afternoon
to look for the Rusty Blackbirds reported earlier this month. No luck
after about 1-1/2 hours but it sure was pretty. Song Sparrows, Belted
Kingfishers, one American Robin, and scads of high flying geese were my
only birds. There were lots of bird footprints in the snow near where
the pond drainage meets the river. Glad I had my Wellington boots. I
did see a prowling cat along the riverbank closer to the CR 9E bridge.

Good birding,
