This morning while out on a Boulder County raptor survey, there was
an adult Lesser Black-Backed Gull sitting on the ice with a gang of
Ring Billed Gulls and some 20 Herring Gulls at Waneka Lake, in
Lafayette. I called Ted Floyd, who said that he had also seen it at
about the same time and it was the first time he had seen one at
Waneka. Then, in back of one of the survey participant's homes on
Harrison Ct. in Lafayette, there was a pair of Cooper's Hawks
vocalizing to each other and spreading their tails. (Unfortunately,
it was out of the survey area, but it was very cool.) -Elena K
