Good Morning Birders,

I continue to consistently have Evening Grosbeaks at my feeders this winter,
observing them nearly every day. Upon hearing them this morning, I opened the
curtains and counted 42 of them, which is the most I've seen this winter, and
more than I've seen in 1 location in close to 30 years (since I was a kid in
far-northern NY state)! They're incredibly beautiful, especially when sitting
in the low, early-morning sun, and I love the sound of a large group of them
like this morning. Awesome!

Also, while looking out my kitchen window on Wednesday, an estimated flock of
85 American Robins descended on my yard; I scoured the flock as thoroughly as I
could, but could not turn up a Varied Thrush. They were everywhere throughout
my landscape, devouring every fruit they could find, including berries from
both upright and ground-cover junipers, Russian hawthorne fruits, and old
desiccated elderberries. They descended in a dramatic swarm, were frantically
active all over my yard for about 15 minutes, and then departed as a group.
Very cool!

All the usual suspects are also around the yard, including at least 13 Blue
Jays that I counted yesterday, my single Steller's Jay, and the usual dozens of
Spotted Towhees. It's really active out there!

Good Birding,
