There was a Harlan's Hawk west of Highway 85 a few miles north of Brighton about 8 this morning, near the Platte, and there was a light-morph Ferruginous Hawk on Picadilly Road just outside Barr Lake at 1 pm. Several hundred gulls were on Erie Reservoir on Highway 287 north of Lafayette, but I couldn;t find anyone out of the ordinary, Ring Billed and a few Herring, but someone better than me at picking out gulls could check it out, and finally there was a Coopers Hawk at Valmont Reservoir, plus a great view of a Red Tail mantling and eating something bloody on the ground, about an hour before sunset. It was interesting that the I saw the hawk fly over to the area and land, there was already another Red Tail standing on the ground near the prey, but the one who flew in took over eating whatever it was, and there was a third Red Tail on the nearby post with a platform nest, but only the one who landed fed. -Elena K
