Was camping, looking for Eagles at John Martin Res on Feb. 4. Took a
really long shot of what I thought was a GB Heron out on the ice at
Lake Hasty below the dam. I just took a look at those shots. It was
Sandhill Crane, I'm pretty sure. All alone out on the ice.

About dawn that morning, I awoke in my camper to a most unusual
noise. I thought my heater was about to blow up or something. Kind
of a strange screeching noise. I'd heard owls during the night, but
it wasn't an owl. Suddenly it dawned on me what it was. The noise of
thousands of geese up on the lake over the dam. Wasn't long before
waves of Snow Geese flew over headed east.

As I think I reported earlier, I never got a good shot of any Eagles,
but saw one at Holbrook Res out on the ice, and another sitting in a
tree along the Ark. just north of Swink, again too far off on private
property for a decent shot with a 400mm.
