Adams County :
--Long-tailed Ducks (up to 3) and Barrows Goldeneyes (up to 3) were seen
along the Platte River south of 88th Av. at least through February 4 and are
probably still present. Check West Gravel Lake on the west side of the
Platte south of 88th Av. If not found here, look along the river upstream
from 88th Av. and/or on East Gravel lakes for the birds. 

--A 1st winter Harris's Sparrow reported by Beltz at the Rocky Mountain
Arsenal visitor center feeders on February 3 was still present at least
through February 9. The Arsenal is now open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
Saturday and Sunday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.


Boulder County :
--An adult male Barrow's Goldeneye, a few ad Thayer's Gulls and 1 ad Lesser
Black-backed Gull were reported by Szeliga at Erie Reservoir on February 6.
An ad.  Glaucous Gull was seen here on February 16, reported by Blackburn.

--A 1st cycle GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL and 2 Chihuahuan Ravens were reported
by Szeliga at Thomas Reservoir on February 7. Thomas Reservoir is in Erie on
119th St, south of Isabelle Road .

Broomfield County:

-- A 1st-cycle ICELAND GULL was reported by Peterson at the Indian Peaks
Parkway pond on Lowell Blvd. just south of Hwy. 7 on February 13. Probably
the same bird was seen by Wild on Glasser reservoir on February 15 along
with an ad. Thayer's Gull. Glasser Res. is located just north of Holy Family
High School.

--An ad. Glaucous Gull was seen at the Indian Peaks Parkway pond by Wild on
Feb. 15. Also seen here on the 15th were a 1st-cyle Lesser Black-backed Gull
and 3 Thayer's Gulls (2 ad, 1 1st-cycle) 

Denver County:

-- The ad. male Barrow's Goldeneye, present since December 2009, continues
to be seen on the S. Platte River at Florida Av. at least through February
17. The goldeneye is usually seen in the river just north of the Florida Av.
bridge.

El Paso County :
--A SNOWY OWL found by Cipoletti on Hwy 24 east of Elbert Road on December
27, 2009 and refound by Cipoletti in the same area on January 8 has been
seen almost daily at least through February 14. Directions: Take Hwy 24
northeast of Falcon to the first road east of Elbert Road , Scott Road W.
Turn east onto Scott Rd. It turns south (right) in a short distance and
becomes Mckissick Rd. Take Mckissick to Prairie Vista Ln . Check roof tops
and fence posts anywhere in area. Look for whitewash on rooftops for favored
perches. 

Fremont County :
--A GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW first reported by Rich Miller at Tunnel Drive in
Canon City on October 20, 2009 was relocated by Peterson on February 6,
2010.



Garfield County :
--A female Barrow's Goldeneye was reported by Filby at the Ranch at Roaring
Fork in Carbondale on Feb. 6. 
--Filby reported that at least 192 Barrow's Goldeneyes came in to roost at
Coryell Ranch pond at 5 pm on February 6. Filby warned that they do not come
in to roost every night and usually come in late and leave early. He counted
103 Barrow’s Goldeneyes here on February 11, observed from the hwy 82
frontage road.



Jefferson County :
--A juv GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW first reported by Brown behind the Trading
Post at Red Rocks on December 19, 2009 was seen at least through February 6,
and is probably still present.

--A Winter Wren reported by Hansley along the tree bridge trail in the Wheat
Ridge Greenbelt on February 5, was seen again along the creek west of the
tree bridge on February 19. A Gray Catbird was seen in the area on Feb. 19.
Both the wren and the catbird were seen again on February 20.

Larimer County :
--A pair of White-winged Crossbills first reported by Leatherman in
Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins on November 22 were still present in the
southeast part of the cemetery (section 9) on February 18. 

Otero County :
--3 Greater Roadrunners, 1 Rufous-crowned Sparrow and 1 Field Sparrow were
reported by Leatherman in Higbee Canyon on February 6.



Prowers County :
--At Lamar Community College Woods (LCCW) on February 5, Leatherman reported
1 m Red-bellied Woodpecker and a pair of Northern Cardinals in the south
end.
--1 first winter YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was reported by Leatherman in
Willow Creek Park in Lamar on February 5.



Pueblo County :
--A male Long-tailed Duck (Santangelo, Jan. 23), and a male Barrow's
Goldeneye (Miller, Jan. 31) were still present at the Pueblo Reservoir SWA
on February 18, reported by Blackburn. A female Greater Scaup, ad. Lesser
Black-backed Gull, and ad. Thayer’s Gull were also seen here on the 13th.
--An ad GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL reported by Percival at the South Shore
Marina of Pueblo Reservoir on February 6 was seen again in the same area on
February18 reported by Blackburn.
--A 1st-cycle Thayer's Gull was reported by Peterson at Pueblo Reservoir
below the dam on February 6.
--A first year fem. PINE WARBLER reported by Percival at Pueblo City Park in
pines just east of Duck Pondon January 18 was still present on Feburary 13.



Weld County :
--An imm RED-SHOULDERED HAWK reported by DeFonso at the Kodak Watchable
Wildlife Area nearWindsor on January 6 (discovered earlier by Elens) was
still present in the same area on February 7. There have been no recent
reports of the hawk.

The DFO Field trip for Sunday, February 21 will be to Roxborough State Park
led by Doris Cruze (303-798-8072). Meet at the Park Visitor Center for a 3 ½
hour walking tour on an easy trail. Lunch optional. State Parks Pass
required. Take S. Wadsworth past Chatfield State Park to Waterton Rd. on
left. Take Waterton Rd. 1.6 miles to North Rampart Range Rd., turn right and
go south 2.3 miles to Roxborough Park Rd. Turn left and follow signs to the
Park (2.2 mi.). This is an excellent trip for novice birders and new
members.



The next monthly meeting of the Denver Field Ornithologists will be held on
Monday, February 22 at 7:30 pm in the Ricketson Auditorium at the Denver
Museum of Nature & Science. The subject will be “Dragonflies and Damselflies
of Colorado” presented by Dave Leatherman
