I led the Boulder Bird Club's mountain feeder trip today to Nederland, Eldora, Ward, Allenspark and Peaceful Valley. Best birds were in Ward where both the upper Ward loop and lower Utica Rd. feeders had several Pine Grosbeaks. At the upper Ward spot there were numerous Cassin's Finches and a few Pine Siskin while the lower spot had a healthy flock of 20 or so Evening Grosbeaks. The Brainard Lake Road featured three Gray Jays. Allenspark was slow with only a few Pine Grosbeaks and Cassin's Finches at the Fawn Brook Inn. Perhaps that was because a Northern Shrike was in residence. Over all, the 12 of us saw about 25 species. Bill Kaempfer Boulder
