Good day all!

Just a quick note to say that the immature Golden-crowned Sparrow
remains. He was present on and off between 845am-945am today (2/27).
The sparrow was cooperative and was hanging with myriad juncos,
several Song Sparrows, and Spotted Towhees. The bird visited the
feeder behind the Trading Post and I caught it slinking through the
scrub on the other side of the wall facing west.

Stopped at Valmont briefly on the way back to Fort Collins. Without a
scope it is quite difficult to see much on Leggett other than Common
Mergansers and Canada Geese. Valmont itself is still fairly frozen
and Hillcrest Resevoir is wide open. One 2nd year Bald Eagle
harassing a raft of Coots. Though I'm sure the Coots didn't
appreciate the coronaries, I was laughing my tail off at them. Kooky
birds... And that eagle swooped to no more than 5 feet off the water
just to mess with 'em. One distant Gull on Leggett. I figured there
wouldn't be any gulls there at noon but worth a shot anyway. There
were at least 7 Western Grebes, 2 Horned Grebes, and 1 male Hooded
Merganser on Hillcrest viewed from the trail at Legion Park. If there
is another way to view these resevoirs that does not involve any
illegal trespassing, I would love to know it! Email me privately.

Good birding to everyone!
