COBirders,

At Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) the ice is mostly gone with the big two
ponds being ice-free. Two TUNDRA SWANS were at HQ Ponds (they flew and
landed at Rose Pond later), both mostly white 1st year birds with a
little gray left on their hindnecks. Tundra Swan is a new species for
Chico Basin Ranch.

Other birds of note was a male Barrow's Goldeneye, with probably only one
other Ranch record; one at HQ Pond and...
a beauty of a male Cinnamon Teal was also at HQ Pond. LOTS of ducks with
a good variety.

Cedar Waxwings were fly-catching low over the ground near the Banding
Station Area (El Paso). A few Mountain Bluebirds were feeding on the
ground here and there.

Raptors seemed non-existent amidst Chico's shirtsleeve weather.
