Yesterday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. when walking the ditch road behind our
house, two brilliantly colored mountain bluebirds were spotted. They were
first observed in a tree bordering a field and then one flew and perched, in
all its bright blue splendor, on a fence post.

Earlier that day the whistling of teal could be heard from the open water edges
of the New Windsor Reservoir that borders CR74 in Weld County. I am so anxious
for the reservoir to thaw. Already the geese and various species of ducks are
gathering on what open water there is.
