Dear Cobirders,
Given the strong north winds last night and this morning, I figured
Ted Floyd's Harris' Sparrow should still be around today. I headed
out to Greenlee at around 9AM and was surprised to immediately find
the Harris' Sparrow (it was the first bird I saw!). It was in the
brush right at the Salina St. entrance to Greenlee/Wanaka Lake
(39.997413N, 105.115709W). The bird was subsinging along with the
Juncos when we first arrived and by 10 AM he was singing longer, but
still imperfect snippets of song. Although I didn't get a chance to
see them, a fellow birder reported that there were American Avocets in
the northern pond at Greenlee. They were visible from the wooden
platform.
Cheers,
