Note: Lost and Found at the Hawk Watch, a nice rubber lens cap (maybe
for a scope?). If is yours drop me a line and I can arrange to get it
to you.

Thanks to Vince Kloster and Dave Alcock today, your eyes and company
were most welcome today. Today Bald Eagles dominated the migration
show, and they did not mind the blustery NNE winds and light snow
showers at the site for most of the day. Most of the eagles seemed to
take very similar flight paths just west of the next ridge over, west
of the Hawk Watch. We ended with 15 total Balds with one of the last
eagles picking a dead ponderosa to roost in by Mt. Morrison around
4:45p.m., and another looking for a place to roost around 5p.m. as it
lumbered along the ridge below eye level just beneath the watch. Local
Peregrines (possibly the same pair at Red Rocks reported by Mike
Henwood) strafed the Hawk Watch between 1 and 2p.m. Another passed
with a nice eye level view close in around 3:45p.m. In all, 29 spring
migrant raptors were observed of eight species (see below). The poor
weather by human standards made for very good raptor watching. A scope
really helps, and improves the experience. Songbirds were hard to hear
and keeping a low profile all day. When I departed at 5p.m. the
Juniper Titmouse still had not been seen.

I have some data to get entered!!

Good hawking tomorrow, it could be busy.

Best,
