<http://www.denverpost.com/portlet/article/html/imageDisplay.jsp?contentItemRelationshipId=2947469> Mark Obmascik Former Denver Post reporter *Mark Obmascik* might be in for a big year — a REALLY big year. His 2004 nonfiction book, "*The Big Year*," is being developed into a movie with some big names attached. As it stands today, the casting call goes to *Owen Wilson, Jack Black* and *Steve Martin*. *David Frankel* is down as the director, with the movies "Marley & Me" and "The Devil Wears Prada" and episodes from "Sex and the City" and "Entourage" on his resume. *Ben Stiller* is listed as the producer. "The Big Year" is the birding story of three guys hitting the road in a quest to spot the most birds in North America in one year. And people loved reading it. Let's hope they love seeing it. "To tell you the truth, I don't know what's happening," says Obmascik from his Denver house. "I get all my news from the Internet, so it has to be true, right? I just stay out of the way." Obmascik has talked to the producers and the director — who he says are all good people. "I would love to see this happen," he says. I tell him he'll be rich and famous, but he said those things have not exactly been goals of his. "I have three kids," he says. "From their perspective, nothing I ever do in life will be as cool as getting to meet Jack Black. So I hope it works out." Hollywood sites say "The Big Year" will be released in 2011.
