After reading Walter Szeliga's post regarding the possible Mexican Mallard, I
decided to brave the cold wind at Walden Ponds. I did not find the Mexican
Mallard, but I did find the beautiful Cinnamon x Blue-winged Teal. It can be
seen in the rare and uncommon gallery below. I also saw the large flock of
Tree Swallows along with a few Barn Swallows battling the strong wind. I
returned this afternoon to read the sad post regarding the demise of the
White-winged Crossbill young. Thank you Dave for the great daily updates that
kept us updated every step of the way. I know I looked forward to reading the
dedicated post every day. It's just a reminder how beautiful nature can be one
day and cruel and unexpected the next. Thanks again, Dave!
