Dear Cobirders,
Earlier today, while searching Walden Ponds for the Mexican Duck, I
found out about the Eastern Phoebe and so I bailed, never having a chance to
thoroughly check Walden. So, I headed back to Walden Ponds this evening and
was delighted to see and hear many more first-of-the-season birds including
Sora, Virginia Rail, Marsh Wren, Osprey, Mourning Dove, Audubon's Warbler and a
Swamp Sparrow. A fellow birder also spotted a Wilson's Warbler at the end of
the boardwalk. The Swamp Sparrow was in the marsh just north of Duck Ponds and
just east of the green house. This is the exact same location where I saw a
Swamp Sparrow back at the end of November/beginning of December last year. No
Mexican Duck, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before he reappears.

Cheers,
Walter Szeliga
