This evening, while discussing the upcoming Black Canyon Audubon Society
field trips (in conjunction with the Delta County Library's Big Read! - see
previous post) with Dennis Garrison we spotted a male Black-throated Gray
Warbler. The bird didn't stay long and Dennis was unable to get a photo
unfortunately. This is the 166th species I have recorded in/from my yard!
And, not a bad 2nd warbler species (besides butter butts of course) for the
year.

I checked Confluence Park this afternoon and got two new year birds: Barn
Swallow and Clark's Grebe.

At Fruitgrowers Reservoir/Hart's Basin there was the usual good mix of
species: Lesser Yellowlegs (2), Greater Yellowlegs (2), American Avocet (6),
White-faced Ibis (5), Western Grebe (~30), Northern Harrier (3), Sandhill
Crane (7), American White Pelican (7), and Marsh Wren (at least 3 singing).

Spring alas!
