Good evening, all. At 5:15pm this evening, Jeanne and I visited the flooded field on Goldfield Road just below Big Johnson Reservoir near the Colo Spgs airport.
In the field there were close to 100 beautiful Yellow-headed Blackbirds. Also in the field were 50-60 Franklin Gulls, a dozen White-faced Ibises and 4 deer. On Big Johnson most of the water birds reported by Ken Pals yesterday were still present, and the nesting Bald Eagles were taking turns flying around the north shore. One other sighting of note were two Common Loons on Pueblo Reservoir this afternoon. They were on the southeast corner of the lake right up against the dam. Very pretty birds. A really good day with over 70 species seen at Pueblo SWA, Pueblo State Park, Pueblo City Park, and Big Johnson. Good birding.
