Hi Cobirders,

For the last 8 days I have had alot of birds coming through the yd. BUT, today
was a Chipping Sparrow FALL out. At one point I counted up to 50 Chipping
Sparrows feeding in my backyard on Dandelion seeds. I try to look on the
positive side of Dandelions as far as they aerate the clay soil, and they are
great food source for birds. Goldfinch, Sparrows, and Siskins love the seeds.
Although I seem to have more dandelions this year than in the past, [probably
from the birds spreading the seeds].

I've have a pair of Bushtits, down from 16 birds daily in the winter. This pair
is most likely going to nest around the corner, where they have in the past 3
years. Many White-crowned Sparrows, 1 Lincoln's Sparrow, 2 Brewer's Sparrow as
of today, Chipping Sparrows for the last week, 1 Virginia's Warbler, and many
House Wrens this week. The Wren's have set up their territories. The regular
Cooper's Hawk, which nests around the corner has been present.

The same Mountain Chickadee is still in my yd[been here all winter].
Broad-tailed Hummers have been in my yd. since 5/1. Hoping one of the females
may nest again, nearby. Many Yellow-rumped Warblers have also been in my yd.
since 5/1. My usual yd. birds are pairing up. All the above is Jefferson cty.

On 5/5, in Denver cty, I saw a few sandpipers in a private pond, which is
nearby, and is usually not real good for birds. But on 5/5 I saw 8 Semipalmated
Sandpipers, 6 Least Sandpipers, and 5 Semipalmated Plover at this usually non
productive area.

Happy Birding!
