Yesterday I took a mountain swing to scout several breeding bird atlas blocks. Here are a few highlights.
Kenosha Pass: Red-naped Sapsucker drilling nest hole Tree Swallow investigating cavity in aspen Rub-crowned Kinglets, Townsend's Solitaire, American Robins, Brewer's Sparrow, and Gray-headed Juncos singing Lake east of US285 had a variety of puddle ducks including Cinnamon Teal 2 pair Ruddy Duck 1 male and 1 female Antero Reservoir American White Pelican at least 60 on island. Appear to be on nesting colony Buffalo Springs Campground Green-tailed Towhee 2 Chipping Sparrow 18 in small flocks, 1 singing Gray-headed Junco singing Red Crossbill Clear Creek Reservoir Common Loon 2 adults Loon (sp?) 1 nonbreeding plumage near dam. Probable winter plumage Common.
