HI, folks--

I'm having a ton of fun, and feel lucky to be able to do all these counts...

Adding to Paula's note about South Boulder arrivals, the catbirds and blue
grosbeaks are in place again. Since gray flycatchers are trendy this year,
one of those was down there too. And much more, as they say in the newspaper
ads.

The rest of you seem to have forgotten Gregory Canyon! It's always full of
richness (don't forget I'm looking for someone to replace me as its
eco-steward; see BCNA website about the program). Today all the usual
breeders were back there and very visible, and I had a moment of heart
palpitation when I saw a darkish back and yellow belly in the tangles at the
trailhead where the Kentucky warbler was found last year. BUT, I could not
find that bird again and suspect it was a MacGillivray's or something. It
was very skulky, never said a word.

A PAIR of red-eyed vireos was working the creek drainage downhill from the
parking lot, the male singing merrily. Dare we hope?

No scarlet tanager! (Naturally: it appears every year only when I am not out
there). But the Westerns are pretty, n'est-ce pas?

Linda
